March Plant of the Month

The ONE plant you need in your garden in March…

Euphorbia! Also known commonly as Spurge, these plants are such good doers, adding 12 months of interest with almost no effort on your part. Here’s why I think they deserve a spot in your garden…

✅ Evergreen (and they don’t half ‘pop’ in early Spring sunshine 🤩)
✅ There are so many varieties to choose from…foliage can be bold green to blue/grey, and even red to purple, and flowers can be bright acid yellow, green or orange
✅ Provide 12 months of bright colour & structure
✅ Flowers from early Spring until late Summer
✅ They’re happy being baked in full sun and are drought tolerant once established so won’t need frequent watering
✅ They look great in a mixed border, but also have enough character to stand alone
✅ Simply cut back faded flower stems to the base after flowering; no other maintenance required*
✅ Will self-seed giving you additional plants for free!

*Note about cutting back - Euphorbias bleed a milky fluid from the cut stems which can irritate skin, so just make sure you wear gloves when doing the job and give your secateurs a quick wipe afterwards to stop them getting gummed up!
